Articles - Dear Santa...
What a truly rubbish article.
Wenger is God. 13 years ago we were only dreaming of playing the likes of the Milans, Real Madrid, Barc etc. Not only have we acheieved out dream of competing with the likes of the best in the world but we have now beaten them. Prior to this, the only 'dreams' we had meet were beating Parma in the Cup Winners Cup in '94 (i think right date).
Wenger had a dream to take us to the highest level and he has got us there. We are one of the best and richest clubs in the world. 10 years ago we were as good as the likes of the Yids etc and our goal was to break into the top 3 and compete.
Lets not get too carried away and not get the typical Chelsea attitude that if we dont win jack shite we not good enough. We reached the semi-final of the FA cup and the semi-final of the Champions league last season, we nearly there!
So why not England? They English is lacking Englishness as Bilic said. There are pretty few English coaches who can take the national team to glory. Kevin Keegan is underrated but I think he can take the English national team to WC2014
But if Wenger decides to stay in Arsenal, that's great too.
But seriously, I think you're missing a key point. The only reason Arsenal is limited financially is due to the debt structure. As that debt gets paid down (Arsenal was by far the most profitable team in the premiership last year, making over 30mill + we have another 30mm net from the transfer market this year alone) over the next few years, we will have a lot more flexibility.
Without a dout Le Wenger is looking ahead to those years and salivating at the prospect of combining a well oiled engine with some tactical purchases.
As much pressure as he's got in North London, let's face it, his rein is relatively unchallenged. He's never realistically been under fire in all his years with Arsenal.
On the other hand, coaching England and trying to get the homegrown talent to play 'the beautiful way' while fending off the media and England fans would be unbearable. There is no patience with England the way there is at the Emirates. Ain't gonna happen.
I agree with the rest, and in particular mootzi. There is no way Wenger will take on england. He likes to build a squad of personalities. He can't do that with a national team as he is stuck with the existing players.
To suggest he will leave before 3 years cos of the rebuilding needed is crap.
face it, england do not deserve the great man arsene wenger. i would love nothing more than to see a wenger-managed france beat england in a world cup final.
So no, he isn't going to be managing England, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Lesser Slobivia etc this year, next year, the year after that, or ANY year in the current millenium.
One would think that if you're keen on writing on a topic (AW in this case), you would at least know a little bit about the subject.
